Dwindling Stock of CSDR History Books

As the Chief Author, I want you to know we still have the school history books in stock for sale. The supply is dwindling. By estimate, we have about 100 softbound book copies left.

The CSDR Alumni Association board recently voted to lower the sale price to $10 per book copy in hopes of faster sales. The association has been responsible for storing and selling the books since 2008. All book proceeds go into the CSDRAA coffers. The organization dedicates itself to serving both alumni and students.

The original price for softbound books was $40 each. They are now $10 each, a fire sale price.

The school history book is titled The CSDR Story 1945-2003. It is 430 pages long and contains 500 photographs covering the full scope of school history.

I spent 3,000 hours of my volunteer time over 13 years writing the book and I wrote about 75% of it myself. I am a voracious reader and prolific writer with a passion for history and a strong desire to pay my dues to CSDR. These passions merge into my joy for newsletter and book writing.

Billy “Rusty” Wales, ’63, of Washington State, was thrilled to receive a book through the mail.

If you are interested in buying a book copy for yourself, you can contact Pat Davis, ‘63, Kyle Bayarsky, ‘02 or myself at CSDR. You can come pick up a copy on campus. If you live far from Riverside, we can mail a book to you for $15 postage.

Joanne Miller, ‘71, was surprised to find herself in the picture. As a little girl, she sat in the dentist's chair in the infirmary. The local dentist came once a week to provide dental care on campus until June 1973 when weekend stays ended.

Once the first edition books run out, you will have to wait until I publish the next edition in 2028 for the diamond anniversary of the school.

I would be happy to autograph and write a few lines for you if you want.

Dr Charles Katz, ‘78, has a large collection of school history books from residential schools for the deaf across the country. He ranks the CSDR history book among the finest books for content, interest, photographs and details.
