Jerome Bevinetto, a new friend of the CSDR Museum

Girolomo “Jerome” Bevinetto is a familiar face on the sprawling 69-acre campus. He has been a residential hall counselor since 1994 and has been involved in the sports program for three seasons every year, coaching his middle school students for middle school competitions and preparing them for high school league sports. He grew up in New York and obtained his education at the well-known Lexington School for the Deaf. It was where he learned to love sports and built his knowledge on playing skill development.

Jerome and I worked with the same Rubidoux Hall students in the 1990s and became friends.  He was familiar with my constant hunting on campus for things of historical value for the museum.

Fast-forward to September 2024, Jerome invited me to the Rubidoux cottage for a surprise donation to the museum.

See the pictures that Jerome found in the cottage storage room.  He knew they were in the wrong place. They should be in the archives instead.

Jerome holds a thick album with pictures reflecting the dorm/cottage activities from 1990 onward.  He also gave VHS tapes. He attributes the donations to the hard-working Rubidoux staff for preserving the dorm residents’ memories in photographs and videos.

Thank you, Jerome, for your thoughtfulness and doing your civic duty as a friend of the campus archives and museum.
